Traditions related to grape harvest (rtveli) are an important part of each Georgians’ life. What began as the simple task of picking ripe grapes for the production of wine has evolved into a complex of rituals that include songs, food and even spiritual elements.
Day 1: Arrival in Tbilisi airport and transfer to the hotel
Day 2: Old Tbilisi (Walking Tour)-Welcome Dinner.Breakfast at the hotel. Pick up from the hotels. A walking Tbilisi city tour for 3 hours: Sulfur baths, Metekhi Temple, Narikala Fortress, Glass Bridge of Peace, Anchiskhati Temple and Sioni Cathedral, underground bazaar. Square near the Rezo Gabriadze Theater with free time for photo shooting the clock, after visit the 17th century wine cellar where you will enjoy a tasting of Georgian wines. Free time for lunch at a traditional restaurant. A walk along Chardin Street, Freedom Square, Rustaveli Avenue and more... There is also an opportunity to take a boat ride along Mtkvari and see the city from the other side with a glass of wine – the cost for 1 person is $ 20 after the tour, transfer to the hotel, free time. In the evening, a welcome dinner with a folk show program (transfers are included in the price). Overnight in Tbilisi.
Day 3: Tbilisi Kakheti (the wine capital of Georgia)-Bodbe nunnery-Sighnaghi-Rtveli-Tbilisi. Breakfast at the hotel. Pick up from the hotels.Departure to Kakheti at 9.00 am, first stop will be in Bodbe nunnery, the burial place of Saint Nino, enlightener of Georgia. Proceed to The city of love Sighnaghi, walking city tour, after proceed to the wine cellar, where you will participate in the Rtveli grape harvest festival!The tool used to press the grapes is called a satsnakheli. It can be made of wood, clay, or even stone.The grapes in the satsnakheli are traditionally pressed by foot. After the harvest, stomping the grapes and accommodating the grape must in qvevri or barrels, the host will set out a supra. Here we will have wine tasting and cooking master-classes of Georgian dishes. In the evening drive back to Tbilisi, drop off and overnight.
Day 4: Breakfast in the hotel. Free day in Tbilisi (20-21.09 there is the celebration of capital's days - Tbilisoba)
Day 5: Tbilisi-Gori-Uplistsikhe-Tbilisi.Breakfast in the hotel, pick up from the hotels. We leave for the city of Gori. Visit the Stalin Museum. Procced to ancient cave city Uplistsikhe. Free time for a lunch, after drive back to Tbilisi, on the way we will visit the Chronicles of Georgia a massive bronze, copper and stone sculpture raised on Mountain,it towers directly above the Tbilisi Sea, the city’s largest manmade reservoir.Drop off, overnight in Tbilisi.
Day 6: Departure
Breakfast at the hotel, check-out, group transfer to Tbilisi International Airport.
